Ayr is situated on the West Coast of Scotland, originally a very important fishing port,
and is the main town in South Ayrshire. It's still a busy and bustling town.
It's about 40 miles south from Glasgow, and 75 miles from Stranraer.
Even closer is Prestwick International Airport (7 miles), and the harbour of Troon (10 miles)
with it's ferry connections to Northern Ireland. Both are on the main Glasgow to
Ayr Station railway line and take 10 minutes to arrive in Ayr.
Parking in the town is perfectly adequate with all car parks clearly shown either in the town
or on the shorefront. Outwith these areas you have to buy a parking voucher from the shops
displaying the parking voucher sign. Do not overstay your time as you will get a ticket
and no sympathy shown from the issuing parking warden.
Buses arrive in the town from Glasgow, Stranraer, Dumfries, North Ayrshire and
terminate at Ayr Bus Station.
You would need to check for the service and times you require.
